Macclesfield FC's opponents for first League games revealed - who will the Silkmen play?
It is often said the first six games define a football season, well we now know which six teams they will be next season for Macclesfield FC.
The Silkmen now know who their first-ever competitive league game will be against, as seven fixtures were revealed today.
The North West Counties Football League Premier Division confirmed the first round of fixtures from July to August 2021.
The boys in blue were keen to find out who their first game would be against, particularly after local opponents Congleton Town won their appeal to stay in the NWCFL earlier in the week.
Fans were especially anxious over whether Macc's first ever big match would be at home or away.
But fret not, as Macclesfield FC's first game of the 2021/22 season is at home against Burscough.
The Ormskirk-based club will make the 46-mile trip to Macc at the end of July.
The 3pm kick-off will take place on July 31, at the Leasing.com Stadium.
Burscough were 11th when the 2020-21 season was curtailed, but they had played the least games in the league. However, they won them both.
Tickets for Macc's first League home game can be bought from the Macclesfield FC Club Reception closer to the date.
Shortly after, Macc will face their first county neighbours, via a 21-mile trip to West Cheshire side Winsford United on August 2. The match at the St. Luke's Barton Stadium is an evening kick-off.
Macc's London Road ground will then host consecutive home league games, as they face Irlam on August 14, and Prestwich Heys three days later.
The Prestwich game starts at 7:45pm, like with the Winsford encounter.
The third-last fixture to be revealed for our town's football club today, was an away game at Longridge Town on August 21. It'll kick off that Saturday at 3pm, at The Mike Riding Ground.
The penultimate game confirmed with a date is a clash at Barnoldswick Town was confirmed for 3pm on August 28.
But most excitingly, Congleton Town FC will make the short nine-mile journey to Macclesfield to round out August. The Bears will visit on the last day of the month.
The remaining fixtures will be revealed at a future date.
Elsewhere in Macclesfield FC news, the club were accepted by the Football Association into the FA Cup, The FA Vase, and the FA Youth Cup today.
The club also take on Ashton United on Saturday, in their first pre-season contest held at home.
