Macclesfield: Marks and Spencer to close day before new M&S Food store opens
Marks & Spencer has today revealed that its brand-new Macclesfield Foodhall will open to local customers at the end of the month.
The new out-of-town M&S Food on the Barracks Mill Retail Park is set to serve customers for the first time on the morning of Wednesday November 30.
However, this means that the clothing and food Marks and Spencer store on Mill Street will finally close their doors.
The existing Mill Street store will close on Tuesday November 29, so there is a continued service for local customers.
The M&S Café inside the Mill Street Marks and Spencer will close on November 12, which is this weekend.
The brand new 12,000 sq ft store will open at Barracks Mill Retail Park later this month with a new-look Foodhall that the company claims "is designed to deliver Macclesfield customers a bigger, better and fresher experience than ever before."
Highlights in the new, fresh-market style Foodhall include fresh displays brimming with great quality, trusted value produce from M&S Select Farms, a bigger-than-ever M&S Bakery offering freshly baked bread, cakes and pastries throughout the day, and a dedicated M&S Wine Shop featuring an award-winning selection of drinks.
Whilst new checkouts and quicker ways to pay, like M&S mobile Scan & Shop technology, offer customers a shopping experience that's more convenient than ever.
The store will take cash and card.
The new store also wishes to emphasise lower prices on its Remarksable ranges – including Super Soft sliced bread, RSCPA Assured fresh milk, and beef mince from trusted M&S Select Farmers – the new Foodhall will deliver trusted value for local customers.
Other big name businesses will open at Barracks Mill in the weeks to follow M&S Food, including B&M and KFC, the latter of which are hiring now.
Lindsey Malone, Store Manager at M&S Macclesfield, said: "We're so excited to open our brand-new store on November 30. My amazing M&S Macclesfield team have been working hard behind the scenes to get the store ready and we can't wait for our local customers experience it for themselves."
"The new Foodhall is much larger and packed with so many exciting new features and great quality M&S Food products, so whether you're looking for a big family food shop, or nipping in for some daily essentials – we've got you covered."
The new Marks and Spencer is still hiring for shop assistants in the night time. Opening hours are yet to be confirmed.
Some former Mill Street Marks and Spencer employees are taking up jobs at the new Barracks Mill store.
Maxonians can follow M&S Macclesfield on TikTok and Facebook for all the latest updates on the store, and be the first to hear product news.
The closing date confirmation comes just two days after another big name was confirmed to leave Macclesfield's high street.
