Macclesfield: Meet the couple behind new business Cafe Mustard
A Macclesfield couple have started their own café in the heart of Macclesfield.
Korhan Devecioglu and Sunny Artu are the friendly faces of Cafe Mustard, who hope to embed their Turkish background within cafe breakfasts and lunch favourites.
The married couple, who met in London, moved to Macclesfield five years ago.
Their new eatery replaces Velo Cafe, which closed a few months ago, located on 37 Chestergate.
"Cafe Mustard is your ordinary street cafe that will offer big breakfasts, paninis and baguettes with extra flavour", said Soni.
"We'd like to think we are offering more than is currently on the high street. We have a lengthier menu with more variety."
"In our opinion, Paninis shouldn't just be restricted to tuna mayo. So we hope to offer something for everyone."
Items which take cues from their time spent living in Turkey include a Halloumi Kebab and Mediterranean Panini.
One female customer even commented on the businesses Instagram that she "felt like I was in the Mediterranean, and the service is amazing."
Cafe Mustard has only been open a fortnight, but the staff are already knowing many of their customers by name.
The menu is reasonably priced, fresh, and comes with adequate vegetarian or gluten free options.
They currently hire four people, but are looking for more staff. Pop-in or get in touch via Facebook to register your interest.
"Our chef is really passionate about the end product", added Soni.
"Food is very important, but I do think service is what completes a cafe. So we are looking for somebody with a bubbly nature to come help us out, at least on a part time basis.
"We would love also an extra part-time hand in the kitchen and another person out serving as well."
Hadim Khalie Razali (who was not photographed, but is also from Macclesfield) is also a business partner.
The cafe boasts indoor and outdoor seating, with a bright, positive, mustard-tinged hues in their decor.
"My favourite thing about being a business in Macclesfield is the personal aspect," Soni also said.
"We've only been open a week but we had a lovely gentleman come back to give us a tin of mustard, because he thought it would go with the decor.
"I was the happiest I could've been when he gave it to us. And also the neighbouring businesses around us are very nice to us as well. We love Macclesfield.
"A lot of people say it is a small town, but when you get to a certain age, you realise it has everything you want.
"It is 20 minutes away from Manchester, an hour from Liverpool. We think it is fantastic."
"We're so excited to be here, thank you for everyone that has supported us so far."
Cafe Mustard can be found on 37 Chestergate, Macclesfield SK11 6BX.
They are open seven days a week. Their opening hours are as follows:
Monday 8am–5pm
Tuesday 8am–5am
