There is a new publican at a Macclesfield pub.

Taylor Beardmore has become the new landlord of The Swan with Two Necks, on Chestergate.

Taylor replaces Wendy Smith, who was landlady for 19 years.

Like Wendy, Taylor is a Macclesfield resident, and wants to preserve the live music element of the pub.

Macclesfield Nub News met with Taylor to find out more.

"I am born-and bred-in-Macclesfield", said Taylor.

"I grew up on the Upton Priory estate and the Weston, and went to Fallibroome Academy.

"I've always been working in hospitality. I was recently assistant manager at Broken Cross Club for two years.

"We found out Wendy was leaving in February, and eight weeks ago we got the ball rolling to take over, and we moved in on June 10."

The pub has a reputation for supporting live music, in particular, unsigned bands from a wide array of guitar-based genres.

"There's going to be plenty of bands want to book in," added Taylor.

"Every weekend we are going to have an artist or band on, mainly Saturday.

"We are going to keep the jukebox. We're keeping this as a music pub.

"In the near future, we are going to [make an effort to] predominantly celebrate more local music in Macclesfield

"There's a big boom in Ian Curtis and Joy Division at the moment."

"Wendy gave our band our first proper pub gig here [with the Max Morrison band]," shared the bass player.

"We are looking at changing the selection of beer slightly. But with the pub overall, we want to keep it as close to it was as possible.

"Wendy built up a pretty good venue here, we don't want to change that.

"There's people all over the country that have heard of The Swan with Two Necks, because of how supportive they have been to bands."

Bands can get in touch through the new Facebook page.

It is the first time Taylor has had his own pub.

The Swan with Two Necks is located on 65 Chestergate, Macclesfield SK11 6DG.

"It feels brilliant, it is what I have been wanting to do for a while, so to have been given the opportunity is fantastic," he concluded.

"Life has come full circle as my nan and grandad used to run The Old Kings Head [pub, now demolished] next door.

"Thank you to the community so far for their support."

Taylor is still looking for staff for the new era of the pub.

Opening times is currently being figured out, with a revised schedule to be announced.

However, currently the pub is open seven days a week.

The new Swan with Two Necks Facebook page has 400 followers, and you can follow it HERE.
