A woman from Macclesfield has completed Britain's biggest skydive to raise money in her best friend's memory.

Maighan Mclean has raised a whopping £3200 for the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young.

Her 15,000ft skydive fundraiser will pay for over 50 heart screenings for young people.

She chose this cause in memory of her late best friend Mia Jennings, who passed away from a cardiac arrest earlier this year aged just 19.

"It was amazing weather," said Maighan.

"A rainbow appeared behind me before I got in the plane. It was like a sign from Mia letting us all know she was with me.

"My favourite part of the skydive was definitely the start, seeing how high up I was and then just free falling, although I was scared it was an incredible feeling."

Maighan, who was scared of heights, completed the Lancashire skydive with ease, as evidenced by the photos in this article.

Maighan had known Mia - who worked at Macclesfield Leisure Centre - since meeting in Reception at Gawsworth Primary School.

It is not too late to donate to the crowdfunder. You can do so on this link.

"I'd just like to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated, I didn't think at all I'd raise over £3000, added Maighan.

"We are all so so grateful! The support from you all has been amazing and I had such a lovely experience."

Maighan's fundraising efforts now mean almost £24,000 has been raised for Cardiac Risk in the Young in Mia's memory.

Mia's father James also estimates if you include other charities, that more than £30,000 has been raised for good causes in memory of Mia.
