Macclesfield online gift shop relaunches and will be at local markets
A side hustle for a qualified animal nutritionist and pet store worker has been relaunched.
Macclesfield resident Sarah Burgess started Gift Porium Boutique two years ago.
Sarah, who also works at Burgess Pets Store on Mill Street with her mum Sally, has used her retail experience to kickstart her own business.
She has just relaunched the business in time for the summer market season, and also started a new online shop.
"It started as a lockdown project to share joy," said Sarah.
"We sell anything from crystals, homeware, decor, candles, necklaces.
"If you can think of something gifty, we sell it."
Her signature piece is her homemade crystal candles, with each candle being unique.
Other stock includes plant pots, fossils, dreamcatchers, jewellery, stationery, keyrings, figurines and more.
There will be a special discount on Pride-themed items to get prepped for MaccPride from July 1 to 15.
The products have unisex appeal, with an emphasis on wellness. Large crystals and bracelets are her best-sellers.
Sarah will be taking Gift Porium Boutique across Cheshire markets in coming months.
"I will be at the Rainow Church Fete on July 15", said Sarah.
"Having autism, dyspraxia and dyslexia and missing so much out on high school due to bullying due to my illnesses, my message would be just because you have got a disability doesn't meant you can't do anything in life.
"If you put your mind to it, you can do it and you can go far.
"My mum [who has taught Sarah key business skills from the pet shop they also co-run] is really proud of me.
"I currently use the pet supplies shop as a stock room for Gift Porium. My mum keeps saying, if I carry on going I'm going to have to open my own shop."
Sarah would love to appear at Macclesfield markets in the future. And welcomes people to get in touch.
