Macclesfield: Opening date confirmed for Vic Campbell Cakes The Pâtisserie

By Alex Greensmith

20th Jan 2022 | Local News

Upmarket Chestergate business Vic Campbell Cakes The Pâtisserie will be opening their doors for the first time this month.

And it will be a Treacle Market weekend they will be open for, as they'll open at the end of the month.

From 10am-3pm on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 January, you'll be able to try out the latest addition to Macclesfield's high street.

The new store will be offering a selection of mini cakes, cheesecakes, brownies, tarts and scones with gluten free options available.

These are accompanied by a variety of luxury Parisian hot chocolate, beautifully rich air roasted coffee and organic teas, both with decaffeinated options available.

This is before a full week-round opening in February, where they'll be open six days a week.

We've posted the opening hours from next month at the bottom of this article.

As we reported last year, Vic Campbell's new store started life as a lockdown business, and now makes a natural evolution to our high street.

The hype is buzzing around the town, with about 2500 followers for Vic's venture on social media.

The soon-to-be-opened Pâtisserie is situated on 51 Chestergate.

Owner Victoria Campbell said: "The Pâtisserie will specialise in miniature cakes, cheesecakes, truffles and pastries."

"The retail unit is perfect for what I want to do.

"I do a lot of catering for allergies and specific dietary requirements, and will be doing so with this new store."

The building has a rich history, which has been considered including restoring a cellar unseen by the Macclesfield public for decades.

Built in the 16th century, number 51 Chestergate was home to one of the largest couch houses in Macclesfield called The Flying Horse.

The cellars which were once used to store cold meats and beers for the patrons of the coach house have now been sympathetically restored and converted in to a cosy seating area.

The floor has been lovingly cleaned stone by stone by local specialists to preserve its natural charm and research has shown that the heavy wooden door pre-dates the building and once belonged to a 15th century ship.

The cellars maximum seating capacity is 27 and there are 4 seats available at shop level.

Following the launch weekend, the opening hours will be:

Monday - Closed

Tuesday - 10am-3pm

Wednesday - 10am-3pm

Thursday - 10am-3pm

Friday - 10am-3pm

Saturday - 10am-3pm

Treacle Market Sundays - 10am-3pm
