Local pizzeria Honest Crust raises £1500 for baby charity Smile Macclesfield
The company that sell pizzas at The Picturedrome have announced that they have raised an amazing amount for charity.
Honest Crust, who were one of the first stalls to open in the Chestergate venue three years ago this month, decided to start supporting a local charity earlier this year.
They opted to choose Smile Group Macclesfield, who support families across Cheshire East, which are affected by mental health problems relating to pregnancy and the postnatal period.
25p from every sale of their pizza margherita goes to the Macclesfield good cause, and now having sold thousands of pizzas, the amount raised for charity has also hit four figures.
"We've currently paid in £1549.75", said Rich Carver, Founder of Honest Crust Pizza.
"This doesn't include the first few days of October, so we've likely raised close to £1600.
"It is our biggest-selling pizza by a long-way, and very popular with kids. So it is nice that it can help them get there with their goals.
Macclesfield resident and Smile Group Co-Founder and Operations Director Ruth Williams founded the charity in 2011 with Natalie Nutall.
Smile Group Macclesfield was set up after they both experienced perinatal mental illness, and saw a gap in Macclesfield's care provision.
Natalie had this to say to thank Rich and his team:
"We're so proud to be partnered with Honest Crust as a business which genuinely cares about giving back to the local community," she said.
"What an incredible total they've raised – which equates to supporting around 12 parents through a programme of eight talk therapy sessions at Smile.
"Thanks to the team for going above and beyond and helping us to support new and expectant parents facing emotional wellbeing challenges."
Smile Group Macclesfield hosts two-hour peer support group sessions on Ash Grove in Macclesfield.
They take place every Friday from 10am to 12pm.
"I think it is important as a small local business to support local charities, as I believe in helping the community," added Rich.
"It is lovely to have those relationships with suppliers, customers and partners. And as a father-of-four of four children myself, the whole message behind Smile really resonated with me."
