A Macclesfield pub is set to relaunch itself later this month, after some major renovations.

The White Lion, located on 105 Mill Street, welcomed new management at the start of the year.

The young minds behind the town centre pub - Kyle Frost (22) and Jack Bellis (24) - told Macclesfield Nub News in January that their main goal for this year was a refurbishment.

And now their hard work has paid off, as their bar operator has decided it is their time for a refurb, costing tens of thousands of pounds.

"We want to thank Punch Pubs for investing £40,000 in the refurb," said Kyle and Jack.

"The refurb will start on Monday April 17, and be done by the end of the month.

"We will still be open while work is taking place. But we will only be open outside Tuesday to Sunday, and inside during the weekends.

"We have a spruced up outside bar already in place, which has both Estrella lager and Old Mout Cider on tap.

"We hope you will love it, and you will love the changes made inside when they are ready too."

While you have to wait a fortnight for the refurb, a new food menu is already in place, which are small plates that can be consumed inside or out.

Dishes include nachos, jalapeño poppers, mozzarella dippers and a steak wrap. You can get three small plates for £15.

"We will reopen on Saturday April 29 at 12pm," they said.

"We will have live music, DJs and a free buffet."

The five-figure renovation will see the layout change inside, and amenities improved.

"We want to bring The White Lion back to what it used to be", added Kyle and Jack.

"A big thing is new toilets. They will come with new tiles and sinks.

"We want to make the toilets a better experience for all our customers.

"In the main pub there's also going to be new furniture, and everything is getting repainted.

"And combined with the outside, it makes us the only local vendor to have multiple bars active. With summer around the corner, this is the place to be.

"We believe we have the best beer garden in town."

New products at the bar include VK Ice, Blue and Orange. and Inches cider. Bottled Sol and Peroni return to the pub. Also new is alcohol-free fruity cider.

Everyone is welcome to their relaunch event on Saturday April 29 from 12pm.

Beyond the refurb, the pub might put canopies up in the beer garden next winter, and try to forge stronger relations with the neighbouring nightlife hub Duke's Court.
