Macclesfield: Wreckless reshuffle so they can make more e-liquids on site

A locally-owned independent Macclesfield vape has been spruced up to secure its future.
Wreckless Vape Company, next to the Ian Curtis mural on Mill Street, has changed their store layout.
Bollington resident Thom Maggs is behind the business, and makes his own e-liquids on site.
It is a small business success story for Thom, who moved from Castle Street to Mill Street in 2022.
Now he has changed the layout of the shop for the first time since it opened.
Where there were once seats, there is now more space for the Willy Wonka of the vaping world to craft his next creations.
"It wasn't like a full refit, it was rather like a 'repaint' slash 'create office space for me' because we are actually doing a lot more of the wholesale distribution side," said Thom.
"The branding has changed on the outside as well. [A sleek black logo has been replaced by a sleeker, more colourful one].
"I thought when we got to New Year, as nice as I liked the shop before, it was very 'me', but it wasn't very 'mass market'.
"So I thought we'd hit a point where they'd seen the shop and gone, 'Oh this looks cool, but very expensive'. When we are actually one of the cheapest vape shops in Macclesfield.
"So I thought, how are we going to access those customers who maybe think we are a bit too rich or 'hipstery'.
"So instead of making the brand dark we have made it brighter.
"We did the repaint inside first before outside, and we had a significant increase in revenue than the previous month before and saw a lot of new faces. And then when the new sign came in, we increase sales even more than that as well. People have noticed us more."
Thom also has a new rep who is selling Wreckless distribution e-liquid brands across the country for the first time, so he can focus on staying at Mill Street and not traveling out of Macclesfield. (Particularly handy given the fact he is about to become a dad).
Two years ago, only five of his largest e-liquid bottles were his own brand.
Fast forward to 2024, 21 of these are his own brand.
The smaller bottles he has 16 different skews, meaning 37 of the e-liquids you can buy in-store were made in-store, something which has become a USP for Thom.
Thom even offered a free sample bottle of one of his own products to a customer, during the course of his interview, something of which he can afford to do as there are no overhead costs in transporting the bottles given the fact they are made on-site.
"Our USP is that we manufacture in house," added Thom.
"Flavours from our product range from salted caramel macchiato, to blood orange and grapefruit, and everything in-between.
"I would like to say thank you the world of Macclesfield. Since we have moved, the amount of football we have received has been absolutely massive in comparison. For the first year, our increase in footfall was forty percent, which is huge, and we are still growing."
They have just started stocking nicotine pouches for the first time, however, please note these are not made in-house. Also new for 2024, Wreckless Vape Company are offering a lot more bundle deals.
The e-cigarette experts boast a 4.9/5 rating on Google Reviews.
