More data from the March 2021 Census is trickling out.

The number of Cheshire East residents who describe their ethnicity as white has increased. In 2001 this figure was 96.2%, in 2011 this was 93.6%. In 2021, this is 94.4%.

The latest data also reveals there are 2.4% Asian people in Cheshire East, and 0.6% black. 1.8% are mixed or from multiple ethnic groups.

The area with the most white people in Macclesfield is Gawsworth and Macclesfield Forest, with 97.3% describing themselves as white. Central Macclesfield has the highest proportion of Asian people at 3.8% of the Central Macclesfield population.

The Central Macclesfield ward scored high on minority percentages in most categories, logical considering it is one of the most urban and populated areas in Cheshire East.

Macclesfield Upton Priory and Greenside are tied with Central Macclesfield with the largest amount of black people, with 1.2% each.

At least 94.96% of people who live in the borough are the same sex they were given at birth. 0.42% were confirmed to have a different sex from when they were born.

With 398,800 people being confirmed to live in Cheshire East from Census data, this means that there are roughly 1674.96 local people who filled in the survey that are transgender or non-binary.

4.61% of people over 16 chose not to answer the gender identity question, meaning both the 94.96% and 0.42% figures are actually both higher.

While the term transgender was not used, the Census gives us a clearer picture of how many locals do not identify as the same sex as they were when they entered the world.

Macclesfield South & Lyme Green has the most people in the Macclesfield area who are not the same sex as when they first came into the world, with 0.74% having a different gender identity from when they were a child. Only four boroughs in Crewe eclipse this figure across Cheshire East.

Christianity still remains the top religion despite the increase in those who are areligious. In 2001 80.3% of the Cheshire East population said they were Christian, and while this figure has decreased to 68.9% in 2011 and 54.3% in 2021, Christianity still leads significantly over other faiths.

37.7% of people in Cheshire East have no religion. up exactly 15 per cent from 2011's figure of 22.7%.

5.5% of Cheshire East residents chose not to answer the religion question.

Fourth in the beliefs is Islam. 1.0% of March 2021's Cheshire East residents identified as Muslim. That is roughly 3988 people. Other than Crewe, Central Macclesfield has the highest proportion of Muslims in Cheshire East with 1.4% of the 3988 people identifying as such.

0.5% of people in Cheshire East are Hindu, this is about 1994 people. Of this figure, 1.2% of Cheshire East's Hindus live in Central Macclesfield, one of the highest figures in the borough.

0.3% of Cheshire East residents are Buddhist, with Macclesfield East and Hurdsfield having the highest proportion of Buddhists in Cheshrie East with 1.1% of Cheshire East's total Buddhist figure.

0.2% of people who live in Cheshire East are Jewish. 0.1% of Cheshire East residents are Sikh. 0.4% ticked the box 'any other religion'.

The term 'Cheshire East' refers to any area covered by Cheshire East Council. The census data informs the council's public services, taxes and more.

More data will be discussed in the coming days.
