New public toilets in Macclesfield town centre
New public toilets opened today in central Macclesfield.
A disabled toilet with changing facilities opened up this morning inside Macclesfield Indoor Market.
The new loo is located towards the rear of the market, if entering via the Grosvenor Centre.
The new ground floor loos follow the closure of the Park Green public conveniences, which are now up for sale.
The new modern loos offer baby changing facilities, to make life easier on Macclesfield parents.
There are still free public toilets at Macclesfield Library, but these are upstairs, and not as close to the town centre where all the shops are.
The one at Macclesfield Indoor Market however, is just a two minute walk from Macclesfield Town Hall, Mill Street and Chestergate. And is much more accessible for prams, or those with wheelchairs.
The new toilets are part of what has been a year of renaissance for Macclesfield Indoor Market, with vacant units being filled with fresh new concepts like a handmade woollen garment stall and Hong Kong street food.
Macclesfield Town Council and Cheshire East Council helped bring the project to reality, which was announced back in February.
The opening of the facilities comes just days after a new stall opened at Macclesfield Indoor Market - the East Cheshire Hospice Tombola. Please click HERE to read more about that.
