Macclesfield rock duo The Virginmarys have a thumping new song out, eight days before their next hometown concert.

The Virginmarys, comprised of Ally Dickaty and Danny Dolan, has released When The Lights Go Down.

The track, which can be listened to by clicking the play button at the top of this article, comes from their upcoming album The House Beyond the Fires.

The opening guitar riff echoes Bloc Party, or indeed The Virginmarys best-known track Just A Ride.

The new song has a chorus that would be great to run to, and Ally's voice carries a commanding grit and gusto.

The band will perform a sold-out hometown show at Cinemac Macclesfield on Saturday November 2.
