Hikers are being invited to tackle three of the highest peaks in Cheshire by taking on a walking challenge through the spectacular Macclesfield countryside.

The popular Cheshire Three Peaks challenge, held annually by Francis House Children's Hospice, returns on Sunday June 18.

There is a choice of two scenic routes - a strenuous 13.6 mile climb offering stunning views from all three summits or a family and dog-friendly energetic 6.5 mile ramble.

Both routes start at Tegg's Nose Country Park and are fully-flagged providing the opportunity to enjoy the scenery with rest-stop checkpoints for refreshments.

Rachel Nasiri, Francis House fundraising officer said: "Both walks promise to be very enjoyable with stunning views winding through the picturesque Cheshire countryside. On offer is a brilliant opportunity to support a much-loved children's charity whilst enjoying the great outdoors."

The event is kindly co-sponsored by Speed Couriers (Northern) Ltd and Cardinal Global Logistics.

Ian Haslop, Operations Director said: "We have been looking for the right opportunity to support a charity where we can make a real difference. As soon as we heard about the Cheshire Three Peaks Challenge, such an important fundraising event for Francis House we wanted to be involved in any capacity. We are hoping to provide as much of the logistics needed by Francis House before hand, and on the day.

"Some of our staff are also taking part and manning check points along the way to raise those all-important funds to keep this amazing organisation delivering this critical care. Wythenshawe based Cardinal Global Logistics is the world's largest employee-owned logistics business.

Didsbury-based Francis House has been running since 1990.

"Cardinal support Francis House because we believe their commitment to end-of-life care is essential. For over 30 years they've provided families in Greater Manchester crucial support and given children, teenagers and young adults a chance to live life to the full. They need £4.7 million in charitable donations a year to continue to provide long-term support, and we're proud to help them achieve that."

Francis House Children's Hospice provides respite care to children and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions at the hospice's state of the art fourteen bedroom facility in Didsbury, Manchester. 

Registration for the local fundraising event is £20 for the longer route which also includes a packed lunch and £15 for the shorter route. Both routes are free to under-16s with an adult. Route guides and a T-shirt are provided.
