The Picturedrome to host festive market of Macclesfield traders this week
The Picturedrome is to host a market of small independent Macclesfield businesses.
The Chestergate food hall will open up their outdoor yard to Macclesfield giftmakers this Wednesday.
It is the first of two 'Twilight Markets' The Picturedrome plans to hold in the run-up to Christmas.
Some small independent traders from Altrincham will join the predominantly Macclesfield selection of stalls.
Gabs Bailey, who works as a manager at both The Picturedrome in Macclesfield and Altrincham Market explained what the event is all about.
"The Twilight Market is a midweek way to get out of the house and into the Christmas spirit", she said.
"It will take place this Wednesday from 4-7pm in the yard, with some of our favourite traders in the north west.
"There are a lot of familiar faces from Treacle Market who will be selling their wares.
"We're always really busy during the Treacle Market, so we thought we'd give back to the stallholders by providing them another space to sell their goods.
"There will be a great variety of products and at different price points so it is accessible for everyone.
"If you can't make this Wednesday, we'll host a second one on Wednesday December 14 as well.
"If you want to become a stallholders for that one, please email [email protected]."
Gabs, who has worked at The Picturedrome since it started, and also manages parent company Market Operations's other site in Altrincham, is also hosting a Twilight Market at Altrincham Market to give the Macclesfield vendors a bigger audience.
Having championed small independent eateries at their Macclesfield venue for three years, this event will hope to do the same for marketeers of Macclesfield and further afar.
Stalls include Macclesfield zero waste sewing and clothing company Z in the Attic, along with Macclesfield illustrator Adam Schofield.
Another is Treacle Market stalwarts Old Man and Magpie, who make handmade furniture and soy wax candles.
Macclesfield illustrator Dick Vincent will also feature. From jewellers to dog clothes makers, find your stocking filler at this free-to-attend event.
Jack in the Box will be selling mulled wine and cider.
"I think it is important for The Picturedrome to do this for local traders as we want to support the local community", added Gabs.
Danielle Marshall, who also manages at The Picturedrome Macclesfield, is also looking forward to the event.
"It is great to be having so many local businesses coming together," said Danielle.
"My favourite stall will be Georgie Brown from George in the Jungle who runs the flower shop up the road.
"She'll be bringing some Christmas wreaths, which will look great with our Christmas lights and heaters on.
"It is really nice to be involved in the community. Some of the Macclesfield traders are really excited to have the opportunity to sell at our site in Alty as well.
"If the event works well, it is something we want to keep doing. We're looking forward to it and thank you everyone who will come down and enjoy it."
