A quintet of London Marathon runners are behind a stunning fundraising total for a Macclesfield charity.

Sutton good cause The Rossendale Trust had five people running the 26.2-mile course for them.

The team, consisting of Vicky Hulme, Dave Hulme, Alison Ralph, Martin Ashberry and Fran Normansell, trained rigorously for months to prepare for the iconic marathon.

Each runner had their own personal reasons and motivation for taking part in the race, but they all shared a common goal: to support The Rossendale Trust and it's work to provide care and support for adults with disabilities.

"The Rossendale Trust is thrilled to announce that their team of five marathon runners has successfully raised £15,000 by participating in this year's London Marathon," the charity told Macclesfield Nub News.

A truly remarkable feat ending months of dedication and commitment to not only running but to fundraising for this local charity.

Alison explained just how much it meant to have been part of this event "I had always wanted to do the London marathon but long-distance running doesn't come naturally to me. With a lot of training and mental work I can now say I did it!"

The Rossendale Trust is located at Rossendale Hall, Hollin Ln, Sutton, Macclesfield SK11 0HR.

And when things got tough for our runners it was the support on the course that helped them through as Martin confirmed "The noise and encouragement from the onlookers lining the whole course, as well as the general atmosphere, was absolutely unbelievable."

The funds raised will go directly towards supporting the Trust's services, helping to ensure that individuals with learning and physical disabilities can live fulfilling and independent lives. The contributions will make a real difference to the Trust and the crucial work that it does every day for the people who use its services.

"We are incredibly proud of our marathon runners and deeply grateful for their hard work and dedication," said Sue Heaven Head of PR & Fundraising at the Rossendale Trust.

"Their efforts will make a significant impact on the lives of those we support. We also wish to extend our thanks to everyone who supported the runners, whether through donations, encouragement, or cheering them on during the marathon."
