Six candidates will battle it out in the Macclesfield Central ward next month for a seat on Cheshire East Council.
James Barber-Chadwick, who represented Broken Cross & Upton on Cheshire East Council until 2023 when he didn't seek re-election, is Labour's candidate in this by-election.
He will be hoping he can hold on to the seat which was won by Labour in 2019 and 2023.
The Conservatives are also fielding a former Cheshire East councillor as their candidate in the by-election.
Beverley Dooley was the Conservative councillor for Macclesfield Central until she lost the seat to Labour in the 2019 election and she will be hoping to snatch it back for the Tories this time round.
The Liberal Democrats have selected Stephen Broadhead as their candidate while John Knight is standing for the Green Party.
Alan Miles is the Reform UK candidate and Kim Slater is standing for the Equality Party.
The by-election was called following the resignation of Ashley Farrall last month.
He was elected as a Labour councillor but had sat as a non-grouped member since the end of last year.
The Macclesfield Central by-election will take place on Thursday, November 20.
The current make-up of Cheshire East Council, which is run by a joint Labour/Independent administration, is Conservatives 34, Labour 28, Independent Group 13, Liberal Democrat 1; Reform UK 1; Independent Socialist 1; Independent non-grouped 3, one vacancy.
