Travellers pitched up twice in Macclesfield yesterday.

Eight caravans cropped up on Cheshire East Council-owned land, at the Hurdsfield Road Carpark on Wedneday lunchtime.

Eight caravans then were reported at the South Park Carpark, Macclesfield. Police attended and served notice on both occasions.

In a statement, Cheshire Police said: "Regarding Hurdsfield Road, the site was vacated shortly after 12pm on 11 June and has now been secured by the council.

"Regarding South Park, officers visited the site at around 12pm on 11 June and a section 60 notice was issued ordering the travellers to leave the park by 1pm on 12 June. The site has since been vacated."
