Tributes paid to woman killed in Macclesfield crash as police investigation continues

A woman involved in a serious crash in Macclesfield has died.

Emergency services were called to reports of a crash on Coare Street, near the junction of Westminster Road, on Tuesday, September 28.

A pedestrian, 68-year-old Linda Richards, sustained serious injuries and was taken to Salford Royal Hospital by air ambulance.

Cheshire Police have now confirmed that Linda passed away as a result of her injuries on Thursday, September 24.

Following her death, Linda's family said: "We are saddened by the loss of Linda and know that she will be remembered by those whose lives she touched.

"As a family, we ask for privacy and understanding at this difficult time."

A DPD delivery van was also involved in the collision.

The driver, a 24-year-old man from Shelton, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, drug driving and possession of a knife.

Police have stated that he remains on bail as of midday on Wednesday, October 7.
