Macclesfield: Are you taking part in veganuary?

This month, some Maxonians are cutting out meat and dairy from their diets altogether, meanwhile some families are trying more meat-free meals for the first month of the year.

Going vegan is better for the planet, and may provide health benefits. We're even trying to eat more vegan by supporting these businesses on this list. Macclesfield: Here are the five biggest vegan influencers from our town. PS There are even more business that offer vegan options listed on our Macclesfield business directory (Click the red link if you'd like to add yours) Ethos Concept Store

The most recent entry on our list, Ethos opened in our town in April 2021. The East Chestergate business with a Greek-twist has vegan gyros, pastries, tacos, and even charcoal vegan bao buns.

As well as cooked food, you can also take packaged food home like chocolate, or get them to make you a vegan celebration cake for the animal product-free loved one in your life.

The vegan business has recently donated to charity, as you can read in this clickable Macclesfield Nub News article.

They are currently running a two-for-one on all coffees for the whole of veganuary, and you can read more about that offer on their Instagram. They are also on Facebook.

Den Croke is a Macclesfield dad who posts daily to his Instagram account. Not only is he a talented cook, but he also takes stunning photography of wacky vegan creations. His dishes includes a microwaved vegan cake that looks like a burger, and a foraged garlic and chickpea crumpet burger. Only becoming a vegan less than three years ago, he has over 3,000 followers on Instagram. And even managed to create a vegan Big Mac which looked like the real thing. Not quite a business just yet, Den hopes to open a burger truck and write a book in 2022. He has been described as the 'Willy Wonka of Vegan Food'. One to get inspired by with your own meatless cooking. We spoke with him on his online success last year. @theveggiepiecompany

The Veggie Pie Company are an exclusively vegan and vegetarian pie business, ran by Joanne Hartle. They have nine pies on their menu that they currently hand-make and deliver across Macclesfield.

Flavours include Chilli Non Carne (with no beef) and a Non-Dairy Feta pie, and can deliver to your door.

Recent tasty additions include a new pie comprising of leek, butternut squash, potato, onion, butter beans and garlic and chive with either dairy smoked cheese or vegan smoked cheese.

Substation Macclesfield are based in Unit B of Queen's Court. They are perhaps best known for their climbing wall, however, their lovely café is exclusively vegan. Their menu includes meat-free pizzas, burritos, wraps, and a beyond meat burger. They also use Macclesfield coffee supplier Kickback Coffee. One for families. They have just 3000 followers on their Facebook @substationmacc. You can find their full menu here. Monocole Deli Chestergate West is also home to a mouth-watering vegan deli. Located on Chestergate, 72b Chestergate close to the crossing, Monocole Deli is a vegan café which is open from Thursday to Saturday, 11-3. Their menu includes plant based cheeseburgers and facon and jalapeño grilled cheese. They still serve cows milk in case you prefer your hot drinks that way, but all of their food options are vegan. You can find more about on their Instagram, where they have over 1,500 followers. They are also on Facebook.
