Macclesfield: there are just eight weekends left this year - so you better make them count!

Here are Macclesfield Nub News' picks for the best things to do this weekend in Macclesfield.

Don't forget, you can promote any event for FREE, during the week or weekend on the Macclesfield Nub News What's On section

Now let's get into the best events happening in Macclesfield this weekend.

  1. Elliot Clayton

Macclesfield musician Elliot Clayton will perform in Broken Cross at the weekend.

He'll play at The Pack Horse pub on Chelford Road this Friday.

With sunny pop tunes with a contemporary feel, and cover art in Macclesfield Forest, Elliot's performance will be a great way to start your weekend with a smile.

He's on stage from 7pm to 9pm. He has almost 3,000 streams on Spotify.

You can listen to his two singles Hold Ya and Highway here.

UPDATE: The date for the gig is on the 26th, apologies for any inconvienence this may have caused.

  1. Canal Art

Phil Speight, respected craftsman of the canals, returns to Bollington Wharf this weekend.

He'll be teaching signwriting - including lettering, spacing and shading, fit for boats in our area, on both Saturday and Sunday.

It is ideal for those wanting to sign write their own boat name, or for anyone interested in traditional sign writing by hand.

Phil Speight is one of the best known practitioners of canal art, and lunch will be provided in your ticket for this two day event.

Tickets can be bought here.

  1. Step Into Christmas

You may know it as an Elton John song, but Step Into Christmas is now an event. Free parking, benches in the town centre, and a Treacle-like feel of festivities. Macclesfield's first Christmas event is here!

The Town Council said: "Join us in the town centre on the 20th November for music, entertainment, food & drink, along with Santa in his grotto and parading through Market Place."

Examples vendors include new business Proper Sound, who will be selling Mulled Wine at the Market Place end of Chestergate. Meanwhile, R&G's Beer Vault will be selling takeaway Mulled Cider from 1pm.

There will be burgers, candyfloss and cold drinks available in Market Place, near to where the new tree has been placed.

  1. Pastel Plants Launch

A Macclesfield interior designer and independent coffee shop will be co-hosting a new venture on Saturday.

Pastel Plants Boutique will be a pop-up store for hand-painted plants which could spruce up your home.

The aesthetically-pleasing, affordable plants are crafted in Macc. And sold in Macc. The pop-up will take place in the Buxton Road coffee shop Yas Bean from 8am-4pm.

Founder Millie Humphries said: ''Our pastel plants at Yas Bean have created quite the fan base so it's only right to give the people what they want."

"Our Yas Bean pastel babies were prototypes and we've since spent months painstakingly testing the right formula to make our painted products as 'unkillable' and durable as possible. Now that we're happy, here's the headline….

"On Saturday 20 you will be able to pap, peruse and purchase. Our pastels can be shipped too so they're perfect if you're after a gift that will give attitude for Christmasses yet to come.

"Some beauties will be available on the day and some will be available to pre-order, we'll have samples in range of cute colours. What we do is totally unique, hand painted and sassy af.''

Just head to the big pink store opposite the Co-op on 219 Buxton Road to find more about this local business venture.

It is from the team which brought you Back to the Future Interiors. You can follow the new company here.
