What's on in Macclesfield this weekend? Here's what we recommend...

Don't forget, you can advertise your Macclesfield event for FREE on our What's On section.

  1. Treacle Market

Macclesfield's first Treacle market of the year is this Sunday.

From a new non-alcoholic wine store, to African drumming, this month's Treacle Market will have an eclectic mix of new stalls.

This is as many regular vendors traditionally like to take a month off in January.

The Picturedrome will also open a new stall on Treacle Sunday.

We'll preview the event in greater detail in an upcoming article.

  1. Classical Music Events

A virtuoso clarinet player will bring his group to Bollington this weekend.

Wellington Road venue Bollington Arts Centre will host a four-piece band in a three-hour concert on Saturday. Tickets are on the door, and the performance will begin at 8:30.

There's also a FREE lunchtime concert on Saturday at St Michael's church on Market place.

Local pianist Philip Sharp will be performing a 45 minute concert, and you can read more about it here.

  1. DJ Nights

They'll be a club-like atmosphere in Duke's Court on Saturday. As they will host a variety of contemporary DJ's and live musicians.

One which will be frequented by younger professionals of our town, The bar NO. 8 DUKES will host Manchester rapper Just Banco as the headliner.

For only £10 you can expect a night full of Afro beats, Dancehall, Hip Hop, RnB, Trap, DnB and basically anything UK. Bring your best mood and your dancing shoes.

It is the sequel to a successful night previously held, bringing a buzzing atmosphere to the area of Macc which has seen three new businesses open in as many months.

Tickets are here.

If you fancy some old classics to listen to on Saturday night instead, G&T of 23 Back Wallgate will be hosting their own FREE DJ night. More info here.

  1. Town Litter Pick
While the Treacle Market is going on, a community litter picking drive will occur. Organised by Scoop and Scales of The Old Sunday School Heritage Centre, Manager Matt will lead a litter pick around our town centre, starting towards the Churchill Way carpark and then heading into down. 13 volunteers are already interested, and equipment will be provided. It starts at 1pm.
  1. Rug Sale
And finally for the second week running, a rug sale for East Cheshire Hospice will take place. Macclesfield Senior Citizens Hall on Duke Street will host the sale raising funds for the Millbank Drive good cause. More info on Saturday's sale can be found here. Macclesfield: RSVP here.
