What's on at the Treacle Market this weekend?
Every month, it is the Treacle Market, and just before, Macc Nub previews what is new or returning to Macclesfield's artisan market for the forthcoming event.
Here's what you can expect at the Treacle Market this weekend.
And don't forget, if you want to promote your event in Macclesfield you can do so for FREE with Nub News on our What's On section.
The big new stall is Happy Badger prints selling gifts in the Old Butter Market.
Another new addition is Macclesfield arts magazine The Greenhouse magazine in The Old Butter Market.
Entertainment wise there is the return of a great Treacle Tradition. The Dog Show is back.
It is the first dog show since September 2019, with the pandemic hampering the return of the much-loved Treadle Tradition.
Macclesfield Irish rescue dog house Erin Hounds organise the event. And you can donate to them on the date.
Prizes include goody bags from local businesses and Treacle stalls. There will be a trophy for the seven finalists of best in show to vye for.
Categories include Loveliest Lady, Dog the Judge Would Most Like to Take Home, Waggiest Tail and Best Golden Oldie.
Famous previous judges of the Dog Show include the late Bill Turnbull from BBC Breakfast fame, Hurdsfield auctioneer Adam Partridge and Macclesfield FC manager Danny Whitaker.
This Sunday's dog show judge will be Macclesfield Mayor Cllr Fiona Wilson.
Treacle Market Co-Organiser Becky Thompson had this to say of the return of the long-running Treacle Tradition.
"We're delighted to bring back the Dog Show in its usual month of September", she said.
"We're proud owners of two Erin Hounds ourselves so to work alongside those charities is amazing really.
"You can register to enter on the day from 11am in the Churchyard."
Other entertainment includes Annie's Saints and Sinners jazz, Macclesfield Music Centre and Smugglin' Budgies. The Macclesfield covers band made their Treacle debut in April, and are back again this September.
Feastable are the caterers on Market Place outside Fiveclouds. Caravan Bar will be outside the town hall. Bean and Bubble will be doing coffee outside the Churchyard.
Treacle volunteers will be handing out free dog treats. The hi-vizzed heroes will be giving out Beerscuits, a Macclesfield dog biscuit made out of waste beer malt from Macclesfield brewers RedWillow.
The St. Michael's Churchyard has other new additions such as Sophie Stock Art who will be doing live pet portraits to compliment the dog show. She will be next to the registration for the dog show.
There is also a new comic art workshop for children called Treacle Toons.
The initiative hopes to allow parents to stay longer and spend more at the market, while teaching their kids a new skill. Please click here to find more about that.
Unaffiliated with Treacle, All Things Nice will be opening on Chestergate this Sunday. The cafe formerly known as Coffee Traders will be open during Treacle Hours.
"Looking ahead, fingers crossed the market will be at full scale this Christmas as well," added Becky.
"Thank you to everyone in Macclesfield for their support."
As ever, the Treacle Market is on from 10:00am-3:30pm on the last Sunday of the month.
The Treacle Market has been running in our town since 2010.
It was co-founded by Jane Munro, who passed on organisation duties to Macclesfield Central couple Becky and Andy Thompson.
