Each midweek, Macclesfield Nub News rounds-up some of the latest and greatest events happening in Macclesfield for the forthcoming weekend. 

Today, we preview centenary celebrations, and Swedish pop sensations.

Friday Night Music

Fancy a night of live music and karaoke? Kick off your weekend Scandi style on Roe Street.

Back by popular demand, ABBA Revival is coming to Cinemac on Friday August 12 and promises an evening of partying and fun!

The concert starts at 8pm, but you may want to get ready sooner, as in collaboration with the Prince of Wales pub, there will be ABBA themed cocktails.

There's even a free shot at the pub for those who go in fancy dress so dust off those flares!

Live Comedy

Macclesfield Rugby Club are hosting a comedy night on Friday August 12. It'll take place from 7-11pm and for over 18s only.

Comedians Dave Twentyman, Simon Lomas and Jonathon Mayor are lined up for a great night of laughs.

Seeta Wrightson is also appearing after becoming a BBC comedy awards semi-finalist in 2021!

South Park Centenary

Macclesfield Town Mayor has planned her first civic event to celebrate 100 years of South Park. 

A picnic has been planned for Saturday 13 August from 11am-2pm in South Park.

There will be live music, ice cream, face painting and more! 

This free event will be a great way to celebrate this great green space.

Pictures in the Park

James L. Brook's 1997 American romcom 'As Good as It Gets' will be shown at a Macclesfield pub this weekend.

Pictures in the Park are also having a film screening this weekend, hosted at the Park Tavern in Macclesfield.

On the evening of Sunday 14, the comedy drama 'As Good as it Gets' is being screened which follows a evening talk show host decide to add some diversity to the male writing staff but she soon realises that the aspiring comedienne she shires is not as she hoped. 

This completely free event begins at 8pm and a seat comes on a first come first served basis.

Kids Scavenger Hunt

The hunt takes place from 9:30am to 11:30am at West Park in Macclesfield. (Image - Clem Rutter GNU Free Document License 1.2 Unchanged bit.ly/3BSKhfO)

Finally, we have another park event, this time on Sunday however.

For two hours, a treasure hunt will take place in West Park.

The rangers hut will host the free activities and prizes.

Donations welcome, as funds will be raised for community gardening cause ONE Project.
