Double-silverware for Macclesfield grassroots football club

A youth football club from Macclesfield is celebrating multiple cup wins.

Tytherington Juniors FC have won two pairs of silverware, to add to their already impressive collection of trophies.

The grassroots football club, set up in 1987, comprise 30 teams and almost 400 players.

Club Secretary / Under 9s Manager Matt O'Brien explained the recent successes:

"Our U16s 1987 recently won the U16s Mid-Cheshire District FA Cup Final against a really strong Barnton team," he said.

"Our U16s AFC team also won the Mid Cheshire Second Division.

"Our U18s also recently won the U18s Mid-Cheshire District FA Cup Final, beating Middlewich 3-2 in the final.

"The club is so proud of the achievements of our teams, all of which are blessed with absolutely fantastic volunteers who give up their free/family time each/every week ... come rain and/or shine to facilitate the players playing grassroots football.

"Tytherington Juniors FC are looking for girls in Reception, Years 1, 2, 3 and 4 in order to create brand new Wildcats teams ahead of the exciting 2023/24 season - the new teams will have training each/every Monday over the summer with Goal Coaching.

"If you have a daughter, friend or family member that may be interested, please get in touch - we also have a couple of spaces in our U10s (Year 5).

"We are also proud to announce that in Celebration of the upcoming Womens World Cup we will be holding a free Wildcats Football Day in association with Goal Coaching on Thursday 1st June - which will be held at Marlborough. Details of how to book on to follow.

"We are also looking for mixed players in Reception, Year 1 and Year 4 in order to create even more teams at these age groups ...... the club has exciting plans for the future and proudly welcomes all players !
