Macclesfield FC have announced that Dean Meadows will join Nick Simpson as joint manager of the women's first team.

Formerly manager of Witton Albion's women's team, Meadows brings a wealth of experience to the role, having won the Cheshire League and Cheshire League Cup.

He will take over the role vacated by Jenna Lea, who the club confirmed has 'departed for pastures new'.

Macclesfield's statement adds: "The new management duo will lead the revamp of the women's first team, whose season ended disappointingly with relegation from the North West Women's Regional League in the previous 2025/26 campaign.

"Nick has already overseen two successful trial sessions under the lights at the Leasing.com Stadium, which attracted an excellent turnout with passionate players relishing the challenge of promotion at the first time of asking from the Cheshire League.

"The excitement will only build following the coup of recruiting Dean, who is excited by the challenge and is expected to provide a new, revitalised energy to the side required to get the team back to where they were, continue to kick on and progress up the leagues.

"Dean and Nick will work closely together to build a team capable of success, which they hope to identify in upcoming friendlies soon to be announced.

"Each of the gaffers are dedicated to providing a bright future to the women's side of the football club and are set on ensuring there is a bright future for those wishing to play to a high, competitive standard and represent the club in the best possible light both on and off the field."

Details of further trial sessions and friendlies are expected to be announced soon.

Any players currently signed up with clubs locally or without a team are encouraged to register their interest in attending the trials days by emailing [email protected].
