This summer, Macc Pride are hosting a slew of events.

These include next month's community picnic in Victoria Park, and a film night in Nether Alderley.

And of course, there is the main event in the town centre on Saturday July 15 2023.

So to help them get prepped for the big event, the Co-op has donated five boxes full of goodies to Macc Pride.

The box came with T-shirts, badges and other items which will be raffled off as tombola prizes for Macc Pride. (Image - Alexander Greensmith / Macclesfield Nub News)

The charitable trust has five trustees and a loyal base of volunteers.

Hurdsfield resident Sue Armitt has been a trustee since Macc Pride was set up over five years ago, and was delighted with the contents of the Pride box gifted to Macc Pride by the Co-op.

"We were really overwhelmed and excited to have received the boxes," said Sue.

"It is great that businesses, whether local, small businesses or larger, community-focused corporate businesses, are jumping on board for Macc Pride again this year.

"It is going to be great."

Sue's favourite item inside the box is a tote bag, which she will be giving out to some of the most-dedicated volunteers as a thanks for their help.

"Everyone likes a bag. I love that the totes incorporate the progress flag as well, which is good thinking by the Co-op, it is not just simply the rainbow flag.

"This year's Macc Pride is going to be the best one yet because we are putting together what we have learned works over the last five years.

"We've also got amazing partners who have jumped on board this year like Alderley Park and Nodding Dog Comedy.

"Our long-term goals are to spread the message that we are not just a one-day event. Because people are trans, non-binary, LGBTQ 365-days-of the year."
