Co-op donates over £8000 between eight Local Causes in Macclesfield

The Savage Foundation received £1,012 from the Co-op Local Community Fund, along with separate amounts for seven other causes.

The Co-op has donated over £8000 to eight local causes across Macclesfield.

The Co-op Local Community Fund is a way for the Co-op and its members to raise money for groups in your community.

Back in November 2023, the Co-op announced eight Macclesfield causes that it will support in 2024.

This will involve Co-op raising money for them throughout the year and presenting cheques to them twice.

Today, the eight local causes have received their first payout. The grand total, between the eight Macclesfield causes totals a whopping £8,321.

Here are the details of every Macclesfield local cause (in no particular order) and what they received.

Gaz Butterworth, Head of Operations for The Savage Foundation said: "We have been overwhelmed with the support our cause has received from Co-op members."

"This is a huge boost for The Savage Foundation and we are delighted to continue to support children's sport here in Macclesfield. 

"Thank you to everyone in the community who has donated to our cause and to the Co-op who chose us as a beneficiary of their Community Fund 2023/24."

Macc Wild Network, who are on a mission to rewild Macclesfield, received £704.78.

Volunteer Tony Moss said: "We would like to thank the Co-op and Co-operative members for their continued support. We really appreciate it. It is amazing to have funding to allow us to create more orchards.

"We are going to keep working with partners and do lots of great little orchards around Macclesfield."

Over in east Macclesfield, Puss Bank School, of Barracks Lane, Macclesfield received £1,222.

The Primary School and Nursery aims to use the Co-op money to create an outdoor space to benefit the wellbeing of their pupils.

East Cheshire NHS Charity, who operate from Macclesfield Hospital, were given £782.65.

They will use the money to spruce up a dementia garden for staff and patients.

Also to get funds this February were All Hallows School Farm. They received the sum of £1,069.30.

They will use it to maintain the farm, which is a boon for education, and you can read more about HERE.

Allsorts Pre-Schoolpart of Bollington St John's, were presented with £1,292.92. They received the most of any of the eight Macclesfield Co-op causes, so far.

Macclesfield and District Young Stroke Society (MADYSS) received £1,076.16

And last but not least, Prestbury Youth Pantomime Association were awarded £1,161.74.
