Macclesfield: Co-op donates £300 to Bollinbrook Pre-School

The funds will help their kids connect with nature, and learn all about plants. The Pre-School turns 35-years-old this year.

The Co-op in Macclesfield has donated hundreds of pounds to a Macclesfield Pre-School

Bollinbrook Pre-School, of Stapleton Road, was presented with a cheque for £300 on Wednesday.

Macclesfield Nub News met with Bollinbrook Pre-School Manager Caroline Bickerton and Business Manager Joanne Sellers to find out where the money will go.

"It feels lovely, thank you," said Caroline.

"We have a lot of plans for our garden area that we are developing throughout this term.

"We are putting a lot more natural resources in, we are going to make some planters, so the children can grow some seeds.

"It is generally revamping it from plastic to more natural. 

"This money will go to provide more planters and outdoor painting areas.

"We are also aiming to create an outdoor reading area. We have some volunteers coming in June to help.

"We would like to say a big thank you to the Co-op and their members, we're a charity so it is a big help.

"£300 is a substantial amount for us. Thank you."

Co-op Macclesfield Member Pioneer Louise Little, who presented the early years childcare centre with the Co-op cash, said: "This is funded by Co-op members shopping in Co-op stores."

"The Co-op chooses eight local causes in the area for support throughout the year from its Local Community Fund, but there are also separate donations to other community causes through the Community Donation Fund."

The Community Donation Fund also recently saw £450 donated to a disabled swimming group in Macclesfield.

Bollinbrook Pre-School is for children aged 2-4, with a current cohort of 38 children. The charity will celebrate its 35th anniversary this year.
