Here at Macclesfield Nub News we have loved covering all things Macc and keeping residents informed of what's going on in the town throughout the whole of 2021.

We launched in April 2020, meaning 2021 was our first full calendar year of covering news in the town!

And in 2021 we are pleased to say that our site went from strength to strength. Over the course of this year our site has received almost 500,000 page views, and we now boast over 5,000 combined followers on Facebook and Twitter!

  1. New Aldi to bring 40 jobs to Macclesfield

In September, German discount supermarket Aldi confirmed that they will be opening a new store on the Barracks Mill site, opposite 'big Tesco'.

On June 7 2021, the first outfield players for Macclesfield FC were signed to the club. The Silkmen signed four players, including a former Macclesfield Town player.

Probably the least interesting story on the list. One month before the end of the third lockdown, we were the first to report when The Society Rooms - Macclesfield's Wetherspoons - would reopen.

Macclesfield Nub News was first to confirm that Prime Cut Bar and Grill Macclesfield would be bringing 50 jobs to our town.

The Castle Street eatery opened in November, just after the £1.6 million improvements to the road were completed. Read it here.

  1. CONFIRMED: Macclesfield Marks & Spencer to leave high street and relocate

Beating every news website in Cheshire to the punch, we were the first to reveal the sad news that Marks and Spencer will close in Macclesfield.

The most read Macclesfield Nub News story of the year was the breaking news in May about Macclesfield FC's league being confirmed.

The Silkmen are cruising at the top of the North West Counties Football League Premier Division now, but it wasn't until May 18 when thousands of you first learned about where Macc would be placed in the football pyramid.
