Activists planning another silent vigil to show solidarity with Gaza

Activists are planning another silent vigil to show solidarity with the people of Gaza.
Global Justice Macclesfield are inviting the public to come together and make their presence known
The group is part of the Global Justice Now (GJN) movement, aiming to create a more just and equal world by challenging corporate power and policies.
A spokesperson said: "Although GJN's main focus is not primarily on Palestine, recent events have meant that we cannot stay silent while horrifying waves of violence are directed at civilians in Gaza.
"We will not stay silent while our own government does nothing to stop Israel from carrying out war crimes.
"In the light of the continuing and escalating crimes against humanity we are witnessing on a daily basis GJ Macclesfield is organising monthly silent vigils to remember Gaza and to call on our government to take effective action."

The spokesperson added: "The UK and others have allowed Israel to act with impunity.
"Is it possible that we see children evacuated from Gaza to the UK for medical treatment whilst continuing normal relations with those who have destroyed Gaza's health system and stopped adequate aid supplies?
"We call for a ban on trading with illegal settlements, a suspension of the UK's current trade deal, and sanctions on those companies involved in the West Bank occupations or the attacks on Gaza."
Global Justice Macclesfield's next silent vigil takes place outside the Town Hall from 5pm to 6pm on Friday, September 5.
Ahead of this, the group are hosting an informal meeting at 7pm on Wednesday, September 3, in the Green Room at Scoop and Scales, the Old Sunday School on Roe Street.
