A Macclesfield restaurant is to come back, with a temporary pop-up in Bollington.

FrenJabi, which shut on Chestergate in July, is back this month.

The French-Punjab fusion concept, championed by chef Rav Khangura, is to cook a curated menu for one night only at a Bollington eatery.

Rav will temporarily be the chef for Palmerston Street restaurant KIRA by Sunitha.

KIRA, which has ambitions to become a Michelin Star restaurant, has already invited a long-string of guest chefs, with Rav being the latest (and most local) to do so.

Rav will cook a special menu for KIRA diners on April 27, 2024.

Macclesfield Nub News spoke to Rav about the one-off event to find out more.

"Since FrenJabi closed, I went back to a full-time job, and I am proud to be part of opening of the Manchester Marriott Piccadilly Hotel," said Rav.

"During my spare time I have been working on my latest concept 'FrenTalia by FrenJabi'.

"It is a concept that inspired me by Queen Catherine de' Medici better known as 'The queen concert of Henry II of France. An Italian lady who influenced French cuisine when she moved to Marseille.

"FrenTalia is a menu that brings both French and Italian food together, with some Punjabi spices and herbs, hence FrenTalia by FrenJabi."

The concept - in part named after his daughter - will be served at KIRA in Bollington on Thursday April 27 for £45 per person.

The menu will start with a FrenJabi French onion soup, followed by tuna carpaccio served alongside Rav's signature calzone.

Next up will be Italian meatballs cooked in a butter chicken sauce, served with naan.

The fish cause will be Rav's take on rub sea bass, with Italian gnocchi and cumin samphire.

Finally, for sweets, Rav will wound out the menu with a gulab jaman in a lemon tiramisu.

"Everything on the menu is homemade," said Rav.

"It is a new concept. Everyone loves Italian food and I have created a concept that no other Italian restaurant can offer, in particular my signature calzone en boule.

"I learnt to cook from my Father who after the Second World War came to the UK with the British Army, and I love seeing my guests enjoying my food and experiencing something so bespoke that touched their palette with every bite.

"The folks of Bollington have supported FrenJabi, however, we had to close, nonetheless, I am excited to bring my new concept back to them in Bollington.

"A massive thank you to all from Cheshire who have supported me and continued to follow me on social media. You will all love my Italian addition to FrenJabi."

For the pop you can book by emailing [email protected] or calling or WhatsApping 07866 450932.

KIRA By Sunitha owner Sunitha Southern said: "We are delighted to welcome Rav later this month. It is going to be a fantastic night"

"We want to open our doors to more chefs who would like to do pop ups with us and experiences."
