A staple of Macclesfield's high street has closed.

JD Sports on Mill Street has seemingly shut for good.

It comes just a month after the unit appeared for sale with retail property consultants, Ockleston Bailey.

JD Sports was approached for comment at the time, but the company refused to provide any statement on a potential closure.

Signs then appeared stating that the branch would be shutting it doors on Saturday, March 21, with the nearest alternative store located at Handforth Dean Retail Park.

Once again, JD Sports was approached for comment and once again the national sportswear retailer has refused to provide one.

As such, it is not clear what brought about the decision to close or how this has impacted members of staff.
