A front of house staff member at a Bosley pub has organised a successful darts tournament for charity.

Ollie Revill, who works for The Harrington Arms in Bosley, hosted a darts competition last weekend.

The event was to raise money for a national cancer charity, and to help people fall in love with the traditional pub sport.

The fundraising tourney, held on Saturday March 16, has raised over £1000 for the charity Pancreatic Cancer Research UK.

Macclesfield Nub News spoke to organiser Ollie Revill to see how the event went.

"It was a great day all round with plenty of money raised for charity," said the teenager who also studies at Macclesfield College.

"After the event we counted all the money up and overall we raised a massive total of £1056.21, which is a fantastic number that I am very proud of.

"The best part of the day was seeing everyone getting involved, especially people who have never played darts before had a game and really enjoyed themselves.

"I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who took part or turned up on the day it was a fantastic turnout also to everyone who donated raffle prizes donated money or help me organise it in anyway there was lots of people who made this day possible and a huge thank you to [landlord] Steve [Machin] who has helped me a lot along the way.

"Overall, it was a brilliant day and I hope everyone who took part enjoyed themselves and I couldn't be happier with the amount of money raised.

"It really means a lot to be supported by many in what I have done."

32 people entered the tournament, so with Gordon Booth crowned the winner.

Proud landlord Steven Machin said: "The event couldn't have gone any better it was eight hours of pure darts playing and fundraising.

"Ollie did a brilliant job organising this."

Speaking to Macclesfield Nub News before the event, Seren Evans, Head of Events and Community Fundraising at Prostate Cancer UK, said: "We're really grateful for the support of Ollie and the Harrington Arms pub."

"Darts has been so influential in raising the profile of prostate cancer - a disease which affects 1 in 8 men in the UK.

"Events like this will help us drive home that message further and fund vital research that will help us save and enrich the lives of men with prostate cancer."

"Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men, and an early diagnosis can save your life. Men are at higher risk if they are over 50, Black or have a father or brother who has had prostate cancer. Anyone with concerns should visit the charity's online risk checker.
