The future of a long-vacant brownfield site in Macclesfield is to be discussed by Cheshire East Council next week.
The empty plot of land where the Old Kings Head pub used to stand on Chestergate's west side, could become accommodation.
Next Wednesday will see councillors discuss the site's potential plans, which are "Full Planning Permission & Conservation Area Consent for demolition of the existing buildings situated on the site and proposed development for a 4 storey building providing 47 apartments, ground retail/commercial units (to be used for flexible purposes within Use Class E), car parking, landscaping and associated ancillary works for R Ball, IDCB Properties Limited."
The pub closed in October 2005. In the years since, the site has been reclaimed by nature.
The proposals would provide one and two bedroom flats, with two properties being marked as 'affordable'.
The applicant is IDCB Properties Limited, of Newcastle-under-Lyme.
The plans will be discussed by the Northern Planning Committee at Wednesday September 6, at the Capesthorne Room in Macclesfield Town Hall.
Members of the public are welcome to turn up to the Market Place meeting, which starts at 10am.
The agenda for next week's meeting states: "In total, the apartments would comprise of 24 no. two-bedroom units and 21 no. 1-bedroom units. The retail units would measure 166 and 174 square metres in floorspace (total 330 square metres)."
The full plans - which have been in the works since 2021 - can be seen here.
