This year's Macclesfield Mayor Charity Auction raised almost double 2021's total, as £1960 was raised for the Mayor's two charities.

Macclesfield good causes Macclesfield Roundtable and The Windyways Trust will benefit from the auction, which was held on Thursday March 31 at Adam Partridge Auctioneers Macclesfield.

The Withyfold Drive auction house could open up to guests in-person and online for this year's charity auction, with COVID restrictions eased.

This helped to raise the huge amount, which will be distributed after the Mayor's charity pot is totalled up at the end of May.

Big sales included a pair of wills - valued at £200 - for £120, alongside a signed Liverpool football club photo for £130.

Macclesfield Nub News' Editor Alexander Greensmith even bid for two items. Paying £10 for a 1960s John Lennon artwork, and just £20 for a drone valued at £395, which was donated by Macclesfield company Hogbens Chartered Surveyors.

Macclesfield Mayor and Tytherington resident David Edwardes said: "Quite, quite incredible evening! £1960 for my 2 charities: Windyway Trust and Macclesfield Round Table.

"Thank you SO much everyone. Huge thanks to Adam Partridge and all his team for making this happen!"

Other bargains included one week at an idyllic Welsh cottage valued at £500, going for £280, along with numerous paintings selling over the estimate.
