A Macclesfield eatery is celebrating a milestone number in their new service.

Georgian Tea Rooms opened in October 2022, selling cakes and sandwiches in an elegant setting.

One month later, the Chestergate business served their first ever offering of afternoon tea.

Last Saturday they served their 200th customer.

Co-owner Debbie Jones said "We've tweaked the offering a bit but basically, it's always been the same – it's a luxury treat so we dress the table with a special cloth and use vintage lace, napkins, bone china and silver-plated cutlery."

"Tea is loose leaf of course and properly brewed, or we have locally roasted coffee. We have a member of staff dedicated to the table so if we are busy, the guests are not affected.

"The teas have been a great success. Many guests have said it's the best afternoon tea they have ever had.

"However, a few customers have asked us to include a savoury option for those who don't have a sweet tooth. So, we have introduced just that. Instead of the mini cake tier, we have pork and beef pie bites from a local butcher, chipolata sausages, sausage rolls and mushroom pinwheels."

Their next big event is the Coronation Afternoon Tea on 6 May at 2pm. Traditional tea only will be served on this day and there's a free celebratory glass of Prosecco for every guest.
