Macclesfield: New Deputy Mayor appointed for Bollington

Bollington has a new Deputy Mayor.

The decision to appoint a new Deputy Mayor was delayed, but now the position has been filled.

Cllr Judy Snowball has been voted by councillors as Deputy Mayor of Bollington Town Council.

The solicitor by trade, will be Deputy Mayor for the next eight months, alongside current Mayor Cllr Helen Ellwood.

Both Cllr Snowball and Cllr Ellwood were first elected in the same local elections, in May 2021.

Before Cllr Snowball became a Bollington Town Councillor, she had held the position of Bollington Resilience Action Group Street Warden.

The lawyer in the criminal justice system serves the Central Ward as a Bollington Town Councillor Labour representative, but will serve the whole of the Happy Valley apolitically as Deputy Mayor.

"I am grateful for the Council for allowing me to do this, and for giving me this honour.

"I look forward to supporting our Mayor Cllr Helen Ellwood in the next few months.

"We have lots of good events and things to do in the coming months, and I look forward to backing her up on this in every way."

Deputy Mayor Snowball's first official event under her new title was appearing at the Bollington Walking Festival.

Her next, will be supporting the Mayor in the Civic Sunday parade, service, and Civic Award Ceremony this Sunday.

Cllr Snowball also serves as a Cheshire East Councillor.

Her hobbies include walking the Cheshire countryside.

Bollington Town Council meet in the Civic Hall above the Library, on Palmerston Street.
