Macclesfield: The hidden gem café ran entirely by volunteers
Walkers, locals and more are invited to try out a hidden gem in Adlington.
The Pop-Up Café at St John's Church, on Roundy Lane is open Saturdays 10.30 a.m. to 4.30pm.
The café has been chugging away quietly for a few years now, but now the secret is out about their delicious bakes and community spirit.
Opening in good weather and through the summer, guests can choose from a selection of affordable homemade bakes.
The café is ran entirely by volunteers. Volunteer baker Jane Ellis said:
"Come and enjoy some delicious homemade bakes accompanied with local coffee supplier Kickback Coffee," she said.
"Stroll downhill through the woods from Bridge 10 Middlewood Way / Bridge 21 canal path or find us where Roundy Lane meets Brookledge Lane.
"If it's chilly or wet you can enjoy your refreshments inside the church.
"Our bakers donate the cakes and take no reimbursement for the ingredients and our volunteers operate on a rota in Saturdays throughout the summer.
"This is our third season after starting up to raise much-needed funds to save the historic church from closure."
St John's Church is one of the budget-built 'Tin Tabernacles' built over 100 years ago. It was built so the local miners could attend services without having to walk all the way to Prestbury.
It was formerly known as the Adlington Mission Church. Find more about the accompanying café by clicking HERE.
