A 0.44 acre site to welcome walkers and tourists will come to Sutton.

Suttonfold Barn on Meg Lane will welcome holiday let accommodation for as many as 15 people, along with a visitor centre with refreshment facilities.

A Cheshire East planning officer recommended it for approval last Thursday.

Bunk rooms for walkers to recuperate in, as well as three places to stay overnight are to be created.

There will also be a tearoom and a Visitor's Centre.

It will provide a job for at least two people. The nearest other business is The Hanging Gate Inn.

The number of responses opposing the development were in the double figures, with one alleging "The bunk rooms for 30 people will become a magnet for hen and stag parties" and citing noise pollution concerns.

But a planning officer refuted these claims as there would be 'an on-site presence' to mitigate the impact of loudness. And also highlighted that the sleeping capacity is half that.

22 bicycle spaces will be created. The Gritstone Trail is popular with cyclists.

A concluding paragraph stated: "Being a tourist development outside of a town or centre, Cheshire Eats [mispelling included in document] local planning policy determines that such a proposal will be supported where there is evidence that the facilities are required in conjunction with a particular countryside attraction, the scale and design is compatible with its wider landscape, it will not have a detrimental impact on residential amenity, and the site has access to local services and employment."

An opening date has not been confirmed.
