Macclesfield's new B&M store has opened.

Wednesday at 9:00am saw the long-awaited opening of the new B&M store in Barrack Mills Retail Park, Macclesfield.

It will co-exist alongside the other Macclesfield B&M store on Exchange Street.

50 jobs have been created, with three moving from the older Macclesfield store to the new one.

The Store Manager of B&M in Congleton will oversee the new site in the first few months, to provide a high-standard of service.

The brand-new store boasts over 21,134 sqft. of indoor sales space, with a wide plethora of bargains.

And new to a B&M in Macclesfield for the first time, is a B&M Garden Centre.

The 6,878 sqft yard has already got plants to get your garden ready for the summer, as well as patio tools and ornaments.

There's also three aisles of garden products inside the store, located just before the entrance to the garden centre.

Nearby B&M's like Exchange Street, Congleton and Whaley Bridge do not have this garden offering.

Before this week, the nearest B&M Garden Centre to Macclesfield was in Sandbach.

As opposed to traditional openings of a Mayor or celebrity, B&M opted for something a bit different to celebrate the first day of their new store.

East Cheshire Hospice were invited to formally open the store, after a poll of Macclesfield B&M staff chose them to cut the ribbon.

In attendance was East Cheshire Hospice Corporate Fundraiser, Lisa Ball.

The employee of the Millbank Drive good cause received a £250.00 voucher and a goodie bag kindly donated to East Cheshire Hospice from B&M, with patients and staff set to benefit.

East Cheshire Hospice has been caring for people suffering from life-limiting illnesses and their families since the 1980s.

They prioritise each patient's wishes and needs, ensuring that they receive the best overall quality of life by providing not only expert medical treatment physically, but also emotional and spiritual support.

B&M is the fifth opening in the new Barracks Mill Retail Park.

It follows Aldi, Costa, M&S, and KFC.

It may be a while before the final two openings occur, with no comment or sign of BP Pulse and The Gym opening their unit any time soon.

"A big thank you to the team at East Cheshire Hospice who helped us open the store.

"We hope that our donation can help them to continue to do the great work they do."

The new store comes with ample car parking and features big brands.

There's fully-staffed checkouts and no self-service tills - a rarity in 2023 - but good news for the workforce.

Customers can expect to find a wide variety of branded groceries for the best possible price including a range of food, drink and pet food.

They have more than 700 high street and out of town stores across the UK, and in France.
