New mentor programme and activities for SEN children in Macclesfield

Services for children with special educational needs have been given a boost in Macclesfield.

The Carers Trust in Cheshire and Warrington have a trio of new services launching this spring and summer.

These include a SEN play session in Hurdsfield, and new mentoring scheme which guarantees to enrich both mentor and mentoree.

The new services are provided by Cheshire and Warrington Carers Trust.

The new schemes are also funded by the NHS.

According to UK government figures, the number of pupils with special educational needs (SEN) increased to 1.49 million pupils in 2022, representing 16.5% of all pupils.

Examples include autistic spectrum conditions, ADHD, and moderate learning difficulties.
