Charity praised for project helping people with disabilities enter the world of work

A charity helping people with disabilities enter the world of work has been praised.
The Rossendale Trust was named runner-up in the High Sheriff's Award for Promoting Social Mobility
This accolade celebrates the work of the trust's WorkTaste project which offers participants the chance to gain work experience, build confidence and develop skills that enhance their independence and employability.
Colin Gillespie, manager of WorkTaste, said: "We are absolutely delighted to have been recognised in this way.
"WorkTaste is all about breaking down barriers and ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

The High Sheriff of Cheshire's Enterprise Awards, held annually, recognise organisations that demonstrate exceptional innovation, dedication, and positive impact.
The awards evening took place at the University of Chester's Queen's Park site on Thursday, March 27.
Sky Sports pundit and former Man City star Izzy Christiansen, who is from Macclesfield, was one of the guest speakers.
High Sheriff of Cheshire, Clare Hayward MBE DL, said: "We were delighted to receive many quality applications across all the awards, which certainly made the judging tough.
"The winning organisations demonstrated how they focused on good growth, responsible leadership and how they are enabling sustainable, inclusive and healthy growth for Cheshire.
"We were delighted to hear the stories behind the businesses and how they were being bold, innovative, agile and determined to succeed. As was stated on the night, the only place where success becomes before work is in the dictionary. Everyone in the room should feel proud of what they have delivered. A very impressive collection of businesses. "
