Everything you need to know ahead of the first Macclesfield Open
By Matthew Hancock-Bruce 3rd Sep 2026
Excitement is building ahead of the first Macclesfield Open.
Nearly two dozen artists and independent businesses across Macclesfield will be opening up their studios to the public this weekend.
It forms part of a new event organised by 21-year-old artist and curator Alfonso Paa, in partnership with local clothing brand, Tourism Board Unofficiale.
"This project has been eye opening in multiple ways," said Alfonso.
"By simply putting out the initial posts on social media, there was an instant buzz and the response was great.
"So many local artists and businesses have got in touch since and been added to the roster - the total number of studios involved has grown from an initial six, to 21.
"Furthermore, we have also had an amazing response to people wanting to be involved as a volunteer.
"It may be due to the snazzy uniforms designed by Charlie Mellor and printed by Tourism Board Unofficiale, but regardless there are some great people helping to guide and talk you through the studios.
"This has really put a big smile on face, knowing that I am contributing in my own way to my home town, Macc town!"

"Macclesfield has such a vibrant and growing creative community, and it's fantastic to be involved in an event that celebrates the incredible art and creativity we have right here on our doorstep.2
Alfonso added: "A massive thank you to the studio holders, volunteers and council supporting this project.
"It has been a treat meeting up, and having a natter with ya!
