Friday (07/03) – Scientific Rambles

The Scientific Rambles art exhibition launches at the Silk Museum on Friday.

Featuring the work of four artist-antiquarians, the show is inspired by the local landscape, interwoven with the Victorian text 'Scientific Rambles Around Macclesfield' by J. D. Sainter.

The artists involved include Iain Davidson, Ailsa Holland, Martyn Stonehouse and Becca Smith.

Friday (07/03) - Music at Mash

Mash Guru welcomes "the greatest New Orleans band never to come from Louisiana', Dom Pipkin and The Ikos.

Dom started off as keyboard player to Errol Linton, directed the Paloma Faith band and spent nearly a decade on the keyboards with trip-hop pioneers Morcheeba.

Saturday (08/03) - Power of Liminal Time

The Wellbeing space hosts The Power of Liminal Time from 10am to 6pm on Saturday.

This day-long workshop will serve as a step-by-step guide to help people prepare for the death of a loved one.

Hosted by Isabel Russo, attendees will uncover a variety of skills to help navigate this difficult time.

Saturday (08/03) - Build a Bird Box

Spring is almost here and that means lots of fluffy chicks will soon be arriving into the world.

To make life easier for our avian friends, head over to Macclesfield Repair Cafe to learn how to make your own bird box.

Suitable for anyone aged six and above, this activity lasts one hour and pre-booking is required.

Saturday (08/03) - Di's Farewell Party

It's the 'end of an era' at G&T, as Diane Grogan departs.

To mark the occasion, a farewell party will take place from 6pm to 2am.

There will be a DJ set from Deepfakes as well as a live singer, Roy Bennett.

Saturday (08/03) - 80s Night

There is no shortage of parties in Macc on Saturday night.

Head over to The Bate Hall where they are hosting their first 'themed night'.

First on the cards is a back to the 80s party.

There will be a prize for the best 80s-inspired outfit.

Monday (10/03) - SciBar

This month's guest speaker is Professor Andrew McBain from the University of Manchester.

His presentation will begin with an overview of the microbial world, highlighting the vast number of microorganisms that exist in the human and external environment, and their diverse activities, many of which are beneficial.

It will then consider the microbiome of human skin as well as the factors that can influence it, including cleansing and ageing.

Finally, Professor McBain will introduce some of the ways in which the skin microbiome is being studied and discuss approaches being explored to better understand its role in skin health.

Monday (10/03) - Present Laughter

Present Laughter arrives MADS Little Theatre on Monday.

On stage for one week only, this razor-sharp comedy comes from the master playwright, Noel Coward.
