A student at Fallibroome Academy has been awarded for her significant contribution to performing arts.

Milli Nixon-Chatterton was awarded the Sophie Star Award at the school's Performing Arts Night Of Achievement on Thursday May 5.

Sophie Spencer was a student at Fallibroome before she was involved in a fatal car crash at the age of 24.

She was a big personality, like Milli, in performing arts and was recognised as a triple threat with a bright future ahead of her.

After her accident, her family created an award in her honour.

The prize is presented annually at the Fallibroome Academy awards evening, alongside three other awards in recognition of students who have also passed away after making strong impacts on the Fallibroome community.

This award was presented to Milli on Thursday night by Sophie's mother, after a tear-jerking speech, following her performance in Soul Band.

Milli has been involved with every Fallibroome show since she started in Year 7, most recently starring as Roxie within the end-of-year production of Chicago, as well as a lead role in Sister Act (a role usually reserved for upper school and sixth formers) when she was just in Year 8!

She has also performed in many school concerts, plays and dance performances which is why she was the only person suitable for the Sophie Star Award.

'I'm so honoured to receive this award," Milli said.

"It was emotional yet so rewarding and I'm so grateful for having been considered for such a sentimental award.'

Milli will have the privilege of having her name forever-presented on the walls of the Fallibroome Academy performing arts Hall underneath this award.
