A convenience store in a Macclesfield parish has become the first shop to stock a new local brand of canned water.

Crag Spring Water, which is canned at source in Wildboarclough, is now able to be purchased as cans at Sutton General Stores.

Sutton General Stores, of Tunnicliffe Road in Sutton, already stocked glass bottles of Crag Spring Water, so it was a no-brainer to stock their latest product.

Sutton General Stores Alan Bolshaw explained why he decided be the first to take the plunge to stock the new cans:

"I'm fully behind stocking everything local," said Alan.

"Anything that is produced locally, should be produced in the local shop.

"Doran Binder, who runs Crag Spring Water is a lovely guy, and we've supported him before. Customers have preferred the still so far too.

"I like the still water, I think it is the nicest water you can have, but you can get it in sparkling too. You can't beat it.

"I really like the design. My eldest [child] thought I was drinking a can of energy drink."

The cans from Sutton General Stores cost £3, and Macclesfield shops, businesses and individuals can also purchase cans for themselves.

"They are great for the environment, as the can has not travelled far," added Alan.

"The still has sold best so far."

Crag canned joins other local drinks you can buy from Sutton General Stores Forest Gin, and Kickback Coffee from the adjacent café.

Other Macclesfield products stocked at Sutton General Stores include Cheshire Honey, Granellis Ice Cream, and Don Millers bread.

They also stock Spearings Butchers Pies, Nick Carter's Meat, and The Cheshire Cheese Company.

If you create local produce and want them stocked at Sutton General Stores, please come in to the shop and introduce yourself.
