We're halfway through 2022, so we thought we'd take a look back at what has happened in our town over the past six months. 

Macclesfield Nub News has grown exponentially over the past half-a-year, so you may have missed some of the best stories we've produced in 2022. 

Here are the Top 10 most read Macclesfield Nub News articles of 2022 (as of publication of this article June 2022).

No 10 Macclesfield: Meet the new team behind Hurdsfield's The Flower Pot Inn

The first pub story on the list, a pair of Macclesfield publicans have taken on their second venue.

And they have big plans for The Flower Pot Inn in Hurdsfield.

No wonder it was our third most read story of May, and tenth overall this year (so far).

No 9 Chef from Bollington parish to appear on telly tonight

In late winter and spring, a Kerridge chef made multiple appearances on national telly.

Chef Sam Lomas came close to winning Great British Menu as well.

The Macclesfield-raised lad now lives in Devon.

No 8 Memorial basketball match for late Macclesfield mum

The most recent entry on the list, and reported first by Macc Nub. This article announced a memorial basketball match for a late Macclesfield mum.

A sibling is organising a fundraising basketball match in memory of her athletic sister.

Money raised will go to her two kids she left behind, in a piece that has captured the hearts of Macc.

No 7 Macclesfield: The Picturedrome organisers to open Cheshire pub

Another recent entries on the list, our seventh most read story of the half-year is great news for hospitality.

The people behind The Picturedrome in Macclesfield want to open Britain's best pub.

It will be a short drive from Macc, and spearheaded by Macclesfield chefs.

No 6 Mother-daughter duo open new salon and beauty academy in Macclesfield

In late March, Macclesfield Nub News were the only news outlet to report on a new beauty salon on Chestergate.

Wilmslow residents Mia and Kyiis saw a gap in the market and decided to open their second beauty school in our town.

The family-ran business was our sixth most read story of the year.

No 5 Refurbishment approved for idyllic Macclesfield country pub

Macclesfield Nub News were first to reveal the news that a Sutton pub is making a comeback.

The Hanging Gate, which boasts one of the best pub views in Cheshire, will aim to reopen soon.

The refurbishment is being done by two first time publicans, who used to frequent the pub.

No 4 You can now book a room at BOHOTEL Macclesfield

Just missing out on the top four, is Macclesfield's first boutique hotel.

In February, bookings for a new boutique hotel on Chestergate began.

While it isn't open yet, you can still book - and gawk at the beauty of - their signature room.

No 3 Macclesfield's first hip-hop sports bar will give back to grassroots football

With vegetarian fried snacks and a unique hip-hop sports bar theme, Remedy Bar and Kitchen is like no other venue in Macclesfield.

And the unique combination has proved to be a winning formula, as not only has the Duke's Court bar been a success, but the article about the new bar has been the third most read news story in Macclesfield this year!

Some beer sales will fund community football in Bollington.

No 2 Macclesfield FC promoted as champions in comfy win over Ashton Athletic

Our Macclesfield FC stories always do really well, with both readers from inside and outside of our town very curious to keep track of all things Silkmen.

We were in Silkmen Terrace to report, photograph and record the epic 4-0 victory over Ashton Athletic, which confirmed their promotion as league champions.

The story consistently pulls in views, even three months after the promotion was confirmed. It may very well take over the number one spot by the end of the year.

No 1 Macclesfield: New gym and BP garage earmarked for Barracks Mill development

Macclesfield Nub News were first to confirm two more of the retailers coming to the Barracks Mill Retail Park.

Back in February, we confirmed The Gym and BP Pulse would be coming to the new development off Black Lane, near The Silk Road.

It consistently gets hundreds of views every month, and has five figures in total views. No wonder it is our most read story of the year (so far).
