Every Thursday we produce an article previewing some of the biggest and best events happening in Macclesfield for the next few days.

With both the World Cup and countdown to Christmas well and truly on, we have decided to produce a bumper list this week on what is on in Macclesfield this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Here's seven of the greatest events happening in Macclesfield this weekend.

DON'T FORGET; You can advertise your Macclesfield event for free on our What's On section - where some of the entries in the list have been taken from.

Step Into Christmas

Macclesfield's Christmas Tree pictured last Saturday.

Named after the Elton John song is Macclesfield's first big Christmas event of the year. Organised by the Town Council, 'Step into Christmas' promises live music, Santa's Grotto and a Father Christmas parade.

There's also Christmas Lights along with arts and craft demonstrations.

There will be FREE PARKING on Duke Street, Exchange Street, Churchill Way, Park Green, Sunderland Street, Whalley Hayes and at the Macclesfield Town Hall carpark in time for the event. Just park at any one of the above sites after 10pm.

The event concludes at 5pm, but please feel free to keep supporting our town's independent businesses after.

England Game

To kick-off the weekend, it is the big football match. England take on the USA in their second FIFA World Cup game.

As well as local pubs, unique venues showing the match include The Picturedrome (who will be living up to the building's original cinema-like incarnation with the screening) and Silktown Snooker Club.

The latter of which are giving away a free hot dog with your first pint, and it is £3.50 a pint until the first goal is scored.

More info here.

They don't normally show the football, but even The Picturedrome has World Cup fever this weekend!

Eco Events

Amid academic Professor Mike Berners-Lee's claim that Qatar 2022 is one of the most environmentally-damaging, carbon-polluting events in history, why not try and do your bit for the environment this weekend?

Macclesfield eco-cooperative Scoop and Scales is hosting two events inside their zero waste shop.

The first is a charity bake sale for a mitochondrial disease charity in memory of a late child.

The second is a health and wellness day showcasing some of Macclesfield's best wellness professionals and what they can do for you.

The shop will also be open as normal on both days. Full info in the pics above.

Live Music

Macclesfield resident Jack Mitchell Smith is the composer of several works under West Kingston Productions.

Come down and hear him perform pieces from 'The Life and Times of the Butterfly', 'Spectroscopy' and 'Head Over Heels', joined by his friends and original performers from the recording.

This King Edward Street Chapel showcase also features never not yet released sneak previews of Jack's up and coming works - 'Twelve New Chapters' and 'Morella'.

TICKETS £10 - book now on this link. The event lasts from 19:30 – 22:00. Listen to some of his music in advance here.

For two and a half hours, a Glegg Street place of worship will be transformed into a mini Christmas market.
