Attempts to mitigate the impact of or save a Macclesfield charity from closure was held today.

As reported by Macclesfield Nub News on Bank Holiday Monday, the Disability Information Bureau faces an uncertain future.

A vote to close was meant to be held on Tuesday, but not enough people showed up to reach a consensus.

But this hasn't stopped Macclesfield from trying to rescue it. Both the CVS and Macclesfield Town Council held a meeting with the 31-year-old charity on Friday.

Macclesfield Central Ward Town Councillor James Barber, who co-represents the area the charity is located in said: "I had a productive meeting today with the Disability Information Bureau, accompanied by the Town Clerk, representatives from CVS and Cheshire East Council."

"We discussed what steps can be taken to safeguard their vital services and there were a number of actions for us all to explore.

"I will continue working with all involved to find a suitable way forward that prevents full closure and hope that, by the time of the next meeting of members in two weeks, we will have a positive outcome."

The charity has not responded to frequent Macclesfield Nub News requests for comment.
